Super simple, super tasty, these are my favorite green beans!
Simply Awesome Green Beans
1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed.
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Italian seasonings
2 cloves garlic, halved
2 Tbsp. butter
1 cup chicken broth*
*I make mine with “Better than Bullion”
In a large pan, heat 3-4 inches of water to boiling. Add salt and stir.
Add green beans and simmer 3-4 minutes, turning with tongs, until they’ve just turned color but are still crunchy.
Remove beans from the water (leave 1/2 inch of water in the pan), and place the beans in a pot with enough ice water to cover. Allow to cool completely, and then drain.
Return the pan to the stove and bring the 1/2 inch of remaining water to a high simmer. Add Italian seasonings, garlic halves, butter, and chicken broth. Simmer until reduced to about 1/4 inch of liquid. Remove from heat, add green beans and toss to coat well. Cover and let sit (off heat) 3-5 minutes.
Toss again, and serve.
